How To Find “boudoir photography near me” Using Google and Social Media Apps the Quick and Easy Way

In this article I’m going to show you how to find a boudoir photographer near you by doing a Google search with the phrase “boudoir photography near me”. I’m also going to show you a few others ways you can find the same thing without using Google or even the internet, but more on that later on.

First, let’s dive into the online Google search way since that’s probably the easiest, quickest, and most convenient way for most people.

Use Google To Search

If you’re looking to experience a boudoir photo shoot, the first thing you’ll want to find is a photographer who specializes in boudoir photography, and assuming you don’t want to travel too far, you’ll want to start with a simple Google search.

Go to Google and type in “boudoir photography near me”.

Boudoir photography near me

You can also type in “boudoir photography near me” plus the name of the city or town you live in. For example…

Boudoir photography near me, Yorktown, VA

If you live in a sparsely populated area, then just include the name of the nearest city or town that you would reasonably want to travel to, to do a shoot.

Now, there are three main sections we’re going to look at on the Google results page once that search term has been typed in.

They are:

— Paid ads from boudoir photographers

— Map search results of boudoir photographers near you (based on your address)

— Organic search results of boudoir photographers in your general area

Check Out the Paid Ads

At the very top and bottom of the page will be paid advertisements from boudoir photographers or studios. You can distinguish them from the organic search results in the middle because they’ll have the word “AD” inside a little box next to them. See an example of the paid ad icon below (please note, the example is not from a boudoir search).

Google Adwords icon

These ads are usually from photographers who are ranked lower in the search results but who are willing to pay to have their businesses appear on the first page or two of Google. Think of it as someone paying to move to the head of the line so they can grab your attention.

If there are no paid ads on the page, then there are no boudoir photographers who are advertising, or there are no boudoir photographers in your area. In this case, you may want to expand your search to include different cities or towns a bit further away.

With these paid ads, you’re welcome to click on them which will take you to their websites where you can check out their images and prices and see if they’re someone you may want to shoot with.

One advantage of these paid ads is that they’re usually from photographers who are hungry for business and may be willing to negotiate on their prices.

One disadvantage of these ads is that some of these photographers may be fairly new at boudoir and may not have the experience or quality of images you’re looking for.

Make sure to do your research and thoroughly check out several photographers before making your choice.

Use Google’s Map Search Results

Below these featured paid ads you’ll find a map, and listed below the map are the top three search results for boudoir photographers who have businesses near you. Below that you should see something that reads “More Places”

By clicking on “More Places” the results will expand to reveal even more results… or as many as there are in your area. This is where you want to begin your search, with this expanded list of photographers and studios, because they’ll all be local results (or at least ones that are closest to you).

Now, there are two ways of going about this. You can either go down the list of names on the left, which will give you the name of the photographer or studio, a link to any reviews, their website, phone number, city they’re located in, hours of operation, etc.

The only drawback to this is if you live in a big city like Los Angeles, listing that your business is in Los Angeles doesn’t really narrow things down a whole heck of a lot. Los Angeles covers a lot of ground and it would help to get a little more specific.

The second way to go about finding “boudoir photography near me” is to take a look at the map on the right side of the page with all those red balloon-pins sticking out of it (hopefully there will be some red balloon-pins, if not, there may not be any boudoir photographers in your area).

You can expand this map by clicking on the “+” sign in the lower right-hand corner of the map.

Google map showing plus sign in lower right corner.

This will expand the map and help to spread out those pins a bit more if they’re clustered together, and this is good because it means that for every red balloon-pin, there’s a boudoir photographer or studio.

Now, to find a boudoir photographer near you just click on the red balloon-pins that are nearest to where you live. You can start your search with the closest and then work your way out until you find someone you like. This is the quickest and easiest way to find a boudoir photographer that is near you.

Check Out the Organic Search Results

Below the map listings you’ll find the organic search results, ten per page to be exact, and these are photographers and studios who Google has deemed to be trusted authorities in the area of boudoir photography because of their relevancy and quality of content.

Example of boudoir organic search results

If a photographer is ranked in the top three or four you can be assured they’ve been around long enough to have some real experience in boudoir photography and you should check out their website and offerings.

Below this list of ten organic listings will be more paid ads, currently three (although Google has a tendency to change things up from time to time). Feel free to check out these as well if you’re not finding something you like from those listed in the map results or from the organic search results.

How To Find “boudoir photography near me” Using Popular Social Media Apps

Another way to find a boudoir photographer in your area is to use social media apps that primarily feature images, like Instagram and Pinterest.

Instagram logo

If you’re not on Instagram already you may want to consider opening an account. It’s free, just like Facebook (in fact, Facebook owns Instagram) and it’s rapidly becoming even more popular than Facebook.

The language of Instagram is pictures. Lots and lots of pictures… and also videos, but mostly pictures.

Another way to search for a boudoir photographer near you is to do a # search on the ‘gram (that’s what all the cool kids call it).

On your smartphone just tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen, then type in  #boudoir(city)  along with the name of the city or town where you live into the search box.

Hit Search then tap on one of the results.

Find an image you like, then click on it to find the photographer who’s credited. They’re usually tagged on the image or hashtagged (#) in the caption below. Tap their name to get to their Instagram page if it’s not their page already.

Logo for Pinterest

Just like with Instagram, Pinterest is picture based as well and it too has a search function. Type in “boudoir (city)” to find boudoir images posted by photographers in your area. There will usually be a link you can tap on to get to the photographer’s website where you can check out their work and contact them if you want to get in touch with them.

Both Instagram and Pinterest are smartphone apps you can download for free from the app store, but what if you don’t have a smartphone or know how to use Google or the internet?

How To Find A Boudoir Photographer Near You Without Using Google Or Even The Internet

Bra shop

If you don’t have a computer or are not computer or internet savvy (although I don’t know how you’d be reading this if that was the case) you can still find a boudoir photographer by visiting some lingerie or intimate apparel shops and asking the clerk if they know of any photographers who shoot boudoir.

A lot of times boudoir photographers will advertise in these stores with a postcard or flyer or have some type of agreement with a store for referrals. It works something like this, a boudoir photographer might name a particular store as a good place to shop for lingerie on their own website in exchange for the shop recommending them when someone inquires about a boudoir shoot.

Don’t Forget About Wedding Photographers When Searching For A Boudoir Photographer

Still another way to find a boudoir photographer that is near you is to ask local wedding photographers if they shoot boudoir. Many brides-to-be will want what’s called a “bridal boudoir” shoot before their wedding day to give as a gift to their soon-to-be husband.

In most cases, since the bride has already met with the wedding photographer in planning to shoot her wedding, a relationship already exists. She might inquire if they also shoot boudoir, and some of them do.

Beware, however, boudoir is its own genre with its own approach and techniques just like any other form of photography. Just because someone is a photographer does not mean that they can shoot boudoir.

To Recap

To find a boudoir photographer near you using Google, just type in “boudoir photography near me” (include the city or town if you like) into the search box.

Go to the map listings.

Click on “More Places”.

Click on the red balloon-pins on the map closest to where you live to be taken to that photographer’s website.

Start checking out the work of the boudoir photographers near you.

Do a search on Instagram or Pinterest by typing “boudoir(city)” followed by the city or town where you live.

Visit lingerie and intimate apparel shops in your area and ask if they know of or can recommend a good boudoir photographer.

And last but not least, don’t forget about your local wedding photographers. Just because they don’t advertise boudoir doesn’t mean they don’t shoot it from time to time for brides-to-be who want that.
