1. Hire The Right Photographer
Okay, this is a bit obvious but in order to pick the right photographer you’ll need to research a number of different photographers’ websites. Take a look at each one’s gallery and ask yourself, do the images “wow” you? Do they have a distinctive style or artistic vision?
Do the images evoke an emotion inside you? Do they grab your attention? Would you like to see yourself in those same images? If the answer is “yes” then you’re on to something.
A lot of boudoir photographers just take pictures of what you look like in lingerie without any distinct mood or style.
At Bella Mitri Boudoir I go to great lengths to create images that don’t exist in the real world. In other words, I control the lighting, the shadows, the colors… all to create unique one-of-a-kind images you can’t find anywhere else.
Take time to explore your options and decide whose work resonates with you.
In general, the average person does not know a whole lot about photography… but they don’t have to. They just have to know how it makes them feel.
2. Choose Outfits That Flatter You
What you wear in your boudoir shoot can either help you or hurt you. When someone books with me I ask them if they have any areas they want to emphasize or de-emphasize.
The emphasizing part is easy, but to de-emphasize an area a lot can be done with the right outfit or article of clothing. A discussion of outfits happens with all my clients to make sure they choose ones that will flatter them.
You want to go into your shoot as confident as you can and one way of doing that is by choosing the right outfits.
3. Invest In Professional Hair & Makeup
With some boudoir photographers hair & makeup is included, while with others it’s an option you can choose.
I would urge you to always have someone do your hair and makeup (unless you usually don’t wear makeup and are strongly against it).
Getting your hair and makeup done by a professional will have you feeling great about yourself and give you that extra boost in confidence.
It’s also a good way to prepare yourself mentally before your shoot.
That’s a wrap!
By following these three simple tips, you can guarantee your boudoir images will turn out awesome!
